The Crow’s Bazaar
July Artist of the Month
Tom is a local artist living in Apex. His work is highly versatile—he jokingly refers to it as having “Artistic ADHD”—ranging from mixed media and collage to abstract pieces and just about anything else that captures his creative curiosity. When people ask what kind of art he makes, his friends often jump in with, “Whatever you want—just tell him what you’re looking for. If he doesn’t already do it, he’ll probably figure it out!”
As a Navy Brat, Tom grew up moving every three years, traveling up and down the East Coast and later throughout Europe. Being an only child and experiencing a variety of cultures and perspectives has deeply influenced his artistic style.
He works with reclaimed materials and a wide range of mediums, including windows, books, fabrics, glass, wood, and spray paint. Using these elements, he creates collage-based themed wall pieces, multi-layered abstracts, and unique home décor items.
Recently, his primary focus has been on a series of 12x18 digital prints featuring pop icons and prominent figures from music, film, anime, gaming, sci-fi, fantasy, and comics. Each piece is hand-drawn on an iPad and set against bold, vibrantly colored backgrounds.
For Tom, making art is a way to find peace—it helps calm his mind and process the chaos of daily life. While he creates for himself first and foremost, he finds it incredibly rewarding when others connect with his work. He loves hearing how people feel when a piece catches their eye and draws them in.
